Please Do Not Feed the Models

Albert has been away on location for Bubbagrubbs winter '10 photo shoot and has returned a different Albert. I can't go into my work room without him calling out catchphrases such as "I want you to get excited about your life" and "You cant change what you dont acknowledge" this has been a mystery to me until now, http://bubbagrubb.blogspot.com/2009/09/adventures-of-albert.html ...............the photo of him reading Dr Phil explains it all!

Its good to have you home Albert but ease back on the "Lets do it!" everytime I start to sew.

Mini GaGa Love

I am definately feeling the love today! Mini GaGa has done a lovely write up on our new summer range, http://minigaga.typepad.com/minigaga/2009/09/going-gaga-over-br.html thankyou so much!

Also I found out last night that my in-laws are coming to stay for a week which just happens to be the the same time as my wedding anniversary. This may not sound exciting to most people but it will be our third anniversary and we are yet to celebrate one. Tonsilitis on the first and some nasty stomach bug for the second so third time lucky we may get out of the house, without the children!!!! It's not till November but I am already thinking of what to wear...............

Little One Baby

Little One Baby magazine are writing some articles on premature babies, and as I have had 2 our family was lucky enough to be chosen to share our story. It was such a shock looking through the photos again of when my two boys were born as I had forgotten just how small they were. Benjamin was so skinny! Every time I put a onesie on him I was sure I would snap one of his little fingers off they were so tiny. His clothes were huge on him and the nappies had to be folded in half, big difference from the little bruiser he is today. So for all those new mummies with their little babies in special care rest assured they do grow up to be big and healthy...

Keeping Up Appearances

Here is a photo of the front of our house (excuse the building supplies leaning against it) which I think is quite nice. Its got all the characteristics that I like in a house, its old, it has a bull nose verandah, big sash windows and original timber. It even has the obligatory white picket fence, roses and a little apple tree (minus the leaves at the moment). Unfortunately when you get to the sides of the house the nice quant little cottage feel suddenly starts to look a little shanty town.

Because of this we are inundated with junk mail from cladding companies spouting things like "free installation" "free quote anytime" "adds value". I know our house looks bad, but we live in Kalgoorlie and most older homes here have had DIY jobs done over the years so ours actually isn't that bad! Ha! So ofcourse I ring and set up an appointment for a free quote.

Now when Brennan and I first bought the house we made the decision that any renovations done would need to be saved for and paid in cash, no refinance, no extra loans. If we couldn't afford it so be it and with this in mind and a small amount in our account we meet with "the rep". Things go well at first, until it is suggested we get the front of the house re-done, the sash windows replaced with aluminium ones, the roof relaid etc etc and at the end of this when all we want is a quote just for the sides, just the tin bit not the entire side we are told $11,000..... yes thats right three zero's behind that eleven.

Instantly I think of how much fabric I could buy with that money, later Brennan tells me he was thinking of a new car.............needless to say we will be living with corrugated iron for awhile yet

Care for a Dip?

Last summer in Kalgoorlie it got to 46 degrees one day and as we did not have a pool we thought we would check out the local swimming spot, needless to say I suddenly didn't feel hot anymore. Nor did I let Benjamin anywhere near the water I kept envisioning tetanus shots.

However if you prefer an ocean setting then head over to Peregian Beach SLSC tomorrow Sept 6 as Brusselsprouts has returned to the market with our entire new Summer range. And if so inclined drive on to the Noosa Jazz Festival, what a great day for Dad!

Karuna Hospice Market

I have received a lovely thankyou card from Renee at the Karuna Hospice (see photo) and a lovely email too. Brusselsprouts donated some clothing for their market and they had a very successful day and raised over $25k. Congratulations Karuna! This fantastic organisation gives people with life threatening illnesses care in the comfort of their own home. They also give support and councilling to family and friends. As a person whose father had cancer I know how important it is for that person to have the reassurance that they can stay in their home with their loved ones around them. If you are interested in donating please visit www.karuna.org.au
